Expansion of Southbank Food Relief Centre
Empower Australia is excited to announce the expansion of our main Southbank facility located at the doorstep of the City of Melbourne and Port Philip.
Our goals are to
- Provide an improved shopping experience.
- Maintain an ongoing focus on preserving dignity.
- Increase our capacity to provide food relief to more individuals facing food insecurity.
About the Expansion
With constant growing demand, our current Southbank facility has been stretched to its limits necessitating substantial renovation and expansion. Plans include creating three cutting-edge shopping spaces to increase our capacity to serve growing numbers of recipients in a timely manner. In addition, we will be creating comfortable waiting areas that allow people to connect and socialise with others.
Our purpose-built, first-class facility has been designed to undergird our ethos to preserve dignity for every person, regardless of their circumstances. We understand that seeking food relief can be daunting and as such, we aim to alleviate this stigma by creating a space that emulates a high-end grocery store where individuals are empowered to make choices in keeping with their cultural preferences.
